Children can join the Nursery from the age of 2 years old and attend until September following their 5th birthday although many children leave when they go into Reception. Many children begin by attending a minimum of two mornings per week although some children are ready to attend full time straight away especially if they have been at a Nursery/childminder before: we take care to help your child settle in happily and quickly and provide parents with daily feedback during their first few weeks.
All children incorporate the Early Learning Goals of the Early Years Foundation Stage during their time at the Nursery.
The exercises that the children choose from are designed to prepare them for reading, writing and number work so that a very natural progression is achieved.
The staff : pupil ratio means that there is a high level of individual attention. Our success is apparent in the confidence and abilities of pupils when they leave the Nursery. Our staff : pupil ratio is 1 : 4 for 2 year olds and 1 : 6 for three years old.
The number of morning sessions gradually increases until your child is ready to remain for afternoon sessions although many children are ready to attend full days straight away.
Children are accepted on a first come first served basis. A Waiting List applies at the school when at a particular time all the available places are taken. However, we try to accommodate each child and each parent who wishes to register.
Parents are always very welcome to visit the school and visits should be arranged by calling the school on 020 8766 0091.
Children are accepted upon receipt of the signed registration form (can be downloaded on the right hand side of this page) and non-refundable registration fee of £25.00, plus a returnable deposit of £75, total £100.00. These can be paid by cheque addressed to Dulwich Montessori Nursery School or directly into the Nursery’s bank account: Sort Code 40-24-37, Account Number 01443747 (please put your child’s name as the reference).
When the registration form and the deposit/registration fee are received by our Office, we send out the confirmation letter which means that the place has been reserved. We also ask parents to complete a medical questionnaire before the start of the child’s first term.
